“Competition makes practice better”

The reasons for having competition in practice are many and obvious.

Competition focuses attention.

Competition motivates players.

Competition simulates match play.

If you want a high level of practice, plan competition as part of it.  If practice is flagging or sluggish, increase the competition or add a target.
