Statistics From The Whole World

Posted by

In the dark corners of the volleyball world, a group of scouts and analysts quietly tap away at their keyboards trying to solve the puzzles of the game. They are mostly not well known outside the teams they work for but they work tirelessly for almost no reward. In a highly competitive professional world they form an anomalous group of competitors who also work together. It is an example of co-opetition in its truest form. The product of their work has been shared here many times through the connections with Science Untangled.

One of their projects is to produce a statistics dashboard that allows sortable statistics from many leagues around the world, the Science Untangled Leaderboards. Here you can find statistics from leagues around the world, both male and female, from Azerbaijan, Brazil, Netherlands and Italy to Germany, Qatar and Iran and many others. To quote from the page directly:

Science Untangled maintains statistics leaderboards for a number of competitions world-wide. These are not official competition products: they are generated from scouted match files provided by our users and might differ from the official statistics provided by the associated competition authority.
The statistics that we report are intended to be relatively simple, but at the same time more informative than the summaries that are reported by many official league websites.

I think it it worth repeating the last sentence… “intended to be relatively simple but… more informative than… official league websites”. I highly recommend it. The link is here. Check it out.
