Interference Under The Net – A Thought Experiment

The rules governing interfence by one player against another under the net in volleyball are ridiculous. That is not in question but if you want to quickly review what I am talking about, please click here or here. I’ll wait.

I would like to conduct a thought experiment. What is the logical conclusion of a rule that allows players in a non-invasion sport to be on the side of their opponent, preventing free movement in the opponents court? Think about it for a moment before you click on the video and see if you are correct.

My only surprise is that it doesn’t happen twice a week.
