I wrote before that The Secret Of Success is vision, coupled with hard work. Of course like everything you read on the internet, that is still only part of the story.
I recently got home to Poland and pulled a book off the shelf to pass a few moments. I chose a John Wooden book and immediately opened to the page entitled ‘Persistance Is Stronger Than Failure’ (p101). It lists the failures that Abraham Lincoln overcame to become president of the United States. He then quoted another president, Calvin Coolidge.
“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistance. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistance and determination alone are omnipotent.”
Wooden then adds, “And what is most wondrous of all is that persistance is a quality that we ourselves control. You, and only you, can decide whether you will stay the course.”
And I will add, “Never, ever, ever blink. Not even if it is 14-12.”
